A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

So, I survived the 9.11K...barely. It started at 2pm and it was an unusually hot day here in Schweinfurt. The race wasn't planned too well because the routes weren't marked very clearly (lucky for me I'm not a front runner) AND they ran out of water. Running out of water was inexcusable to me. I was really peeved that they ONLY had water, I think anything over 5K should have something other than just water, heck, I would have been happy with Gatoraid which I abhor. It was just way too hot and people were sweating way too much to only have water out there. Two people ended up getting carried off by ambulance and this was a tiny race so that was a lot, I'm really surprised it wasn't more than just those two.

I was in no way prepared for this race so I had to run/walk it, I might have been able to run the whole thing had it been run in the morning or if it wasn't hilly but 85ยบ with no shade whatsoever and super hilly, there was no way I was going to be able to run it all. I ended up finishing in 59:54 which gave me an average pace of 11:15/mi. Not horrible, I'm fine with that. The shirts were nice, I'm not sure I'll wear it much over here (just because I don't like to point out that I'm American for safety reasons) but I could definitely see myself using it as a workout shirt for the gym on post.

What do you think?

So, in my post last week I mentioned that I had a surprise, well, I've been waiting for some time to mention this but now that things are in motion and I've got my date set and everything is paid for I wanted to mention that my running is going to be having a setback soon. It's a self-induced set back because I'm going to be going in for my first surgery. I'm finally getting nipped and tucked from my weight loss. My first surgery will be my breast lift and augmentation (nothing too big because I don't want it to affect my running) and then hopefully sometime in February (I want to drop another 15 pounds before) I will have my second surgery which will be my tummy tuck.

I know there are a lot of differing opinions on plastic surgery, some people really don't approve, but I worked my butt off to lose the weight and I'm even more self conscious since I've lost 75 pounds and still have all the skin of my former self. I'm doing this for me and I'm really happy about it . So, that's my big surprise, I'm going to be unable to run for a few weeks but I plan on getting right back into it as soon as I feel ready and I'll be updating on here to let you guys know how it goes.

Congrats on surviving a brutal race!!! Wow - love the shirt! So sad that we even have to have an anniversary of something sooo incredibly sad - DAMN terrorists!!!!!

Second, congrats on your upcoming surgeries!!! Wow - you'll feel like a brand new woman. MOA who is from MO and whom I met in Chicago last month is off from running right now because she just had her 2nd skin removal surgery from her big weight loss. She was thrilled with the first one and was really looking forward to the second one. She seems to be doing well with it. Good luck - I'll be wishing you a speedy recovery so you can go back to being a speedy recovery!

Good for you - I've always said that if I ever get my act together and lose all my weight, I would totally have nips and tucks done to finish out my new look! So excited for you!

Sounds like less than stellar conditions for your race, but you did a great job!

Congrats on that pace, it's awesome!

Yay! I'm glad you announced your surprise, because I was excited for what it might be.

I hope it all goes well. I'm not against surgery, but I'm just a bit scared of it. Hope you heal quickly and are back out on the roads soon :)
