I hadn't run in almost 2 weeks but for some reason I still set some unimaginable goals for myself, I wanted to finish somewhere in the 28's and of course, no walking! I failed on both accounts but I'm still pretty happy since I'm used to failing my ridiculous goals and usually find satisfaction in what I actually accomplished.
I prepared by not getting drunk last night when we had friends over and instead I only had 2 glasses of wine and preceded to kick everyone's ass at Dance Central on the Kinect (you do not want to challenge me, I can crank that Soulja Boy!). I still didn't get to bed till almost 1am so I decided to make today's 5K and afternoon run and of course as I was getting my running clothes on it would start raining. It's been raining for days here but on the plus side: there wasn't that much sweating involved in the Sweat Your Thorns Off 5K...well, at least not until I started running. It was only 54ยบ when I started (that's Fahrenheit, I still don't know Celsius even though that's what Germans use) and with the rain (more like drizzle) it kept me pretty cool for a run in the middle of June.
My Before Pic
My goals were kind of dependent on each other since I probably would have made it in the 28's (hey, 28:59 is still in the 28's) if I hadn't chose to walk up that hill. Instead I finished with 29:24 as my final time but the most amazing part to me was when I plugged in my Garmin when I got home and saw that my first mile was 8:48!!! Amazeballs!!!
Mile 1: 8:48
Mile 2: 9:24
Mile 3: 10:15
.1 Mile: 0:56
That's one happy running fool!
I have decided to make a virtual 5K part of my monthly running plan (I didn't have a monthly running plan before now, lol). I'm going to use the same route to see how I improve (or don't) and hopefully that will keep me motivated. I'll be doing my next one, most likely, on July 9th so hubby can do it with me. He's a great motivator since I have an overwhelming urge to kick his butt at everything but running just seems to come naturally to him... oh yeah, and he's in the Army so he does PT and runs all the time. I'll post more about my next virtual 5K as it gets closer. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and I hope all the other participants of the SYTO 5K kicked my ass because I'm supportive of my fellow runners like that. :)

Way to rock your virtual 5K! I like your plan to run one a month. =)
Congrats on the race! Can't wait for your virtual race - make sure to keep me in the loop!
Sub 29! And you'll get that hill next time!
Brrr...that was a chilly run!
I have a route like that where I'm keeping track of how I do each time I run it. Hopefully I keep seeing progress. Hopefully you do, too. Unlike you, though, I'm a fan of setting low goals that I can beat. Less stress that way. :)
Great race!
