I've got a secret.

I need to come clean with you guys about something and no, I'm not going to tell you that I'm secretly a man or anything. On my post on Saturday Kim, a super awesome and inspiring blogger/runner, commented about this picture I posted without makeup.

Kim said, "Oh and for the record...I wish I looked half as good as you sans make-up! =D" 


Well, Kim (and everyone else), my confession is that I always have some make up on. I've actually been wanting to post about this because I know some runners out there that love their makeup (cough, cough, Jamie) and wouldn't leave home without it. Well, I can't leave home without it because mine is tattooed.


So, I technically didn't have makeup on but also technically did. My eyeliner and eye brows are tattooed and maybe someday when I get the nerve I will get my lipstick tattooed as well. The great thing about tattooed makeup is if you're an athlete you never have to worry about sweat causing your eyeliner to run. My eyeliner is actually very subtle, I chose a brown color and went with a very thin line because I like for my makeup to look natural but you can choose almost any color and go as heavy as you like.

As you can see, I really need them to start tattooing foundation, LOL.

Now, I know the first thing people ask me is, "Did it hurt?" Well, it is a tattoo but they used a topical cream to help numb the area first. It was very uncomfortable but it's more from the idea of someone with a needle so close to your FREAKING EYEBALL!!!  My first session (yes, you often need 2 sessions) was awful because I tend to work myself up over stuff like that, but my second session was much better because I took a vicodin before to chill me out. 


Now, I'm not suggesting to you guys to go out and get your makeup tattooed. I just wanted to make sure people know that I have a little extra help when I'm really not wearing any makeup and if anyone was thinking about getting it done, I'm here if you have any questions. I personally am really glad I chose to do it almost 3 years ago (before I was even a runner) but I know plenty of people think it's insane and would never (in a million years) think of getting it done. 


Whew! Glad I got that off my chest. :)

PPS Tomorrow I'm going in for surgery so I'm not sure how long it will be till I can run  again, doctor says 2-3 weeks. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery because I have the most important 5K ever coming up on September 4!
